As one of Africa’s leading hoteliers, we recognize the importance of a workforce that represents the communities we operate. As such, we encourage diverse perspectives and thinking and celebrate such differences. We have a policy for fair consideration of job applications by physically challenged persons based on their abilities and aptitude. Our policy prohibits discrimination against such persons in the recruitment, training and career development.
Transcorp Hotels Plc understands the value of the continuous development of its staff, hence, training is carried out at various levels, group-wide, through in-house, local and international courses annually. In 2017, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja trained a total of 1,049 of its 1,119 team members constituting 92% of its workforce. Transcorp Hotels Calabar also trained 117 out of its 201 staff which constitutes 58% of its workforce. In addition, both hotels regularly organize refresher courses, knowledge sharing sessions and health and safety trainings to help minimize harm to stakeholders and the overall business. Staff are trained to assess and respond appropriately to threatening situations at all times. Investment in manpower development in Transcorp Hotels Calabar, for example, has considerably improved overall business efficiency and Gross incomes by over 30% in the last two years.
