Last week, Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, CON, Chairman Transcorp Group met with Ambassadors from Tunisia, the Czech Republic and South Korea at Transcorp Hilton Abuja where he continued his advocacy for the world to invest in African youths as a way to foster sustainable growth. And this week, Transcorp Hilton welcomed several African leaders, as the discussion for a prosperous Africa continued.
Madam Vice President is proud of TOE’s impact
Transcorp Hilton hosts global leaders regularly and majority are quick to acknowledge Mr. Elumelu’s impact in Africa and say how much they love the hotel as their home in Nigeria.
Chief Dr. Jewel Taylor, the Vice President of Liberia was welcomed at Transcorp Hilton Abuja on Wednesday, 26th May, 2021 by the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc. Mrs. Dupe Olusola and it didn’t take long before she spoke highly of Transcorp Hilton, her “favourite hotel”.
“Whenever I come, this is where I stay. Everything is right here; you don’t have to go far,” Chief Dr. Taylor said as one of her aides pallies up with our Communications Manager to get a video of her speaking highly of Transcorp Hilton. It seems it’s a popular opinion in Liberia.
The Vice President also lauded TOE’s impact in Africa through the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) which supports 1,000 entrepreneurs with a non-refundable seed capital of $5,000 every year. Mrs. Taylor has never met TOE but she’d like to meet him someday and tell him personally how proud she is of his contribution and impact in Africa.
Ghana’s President had the Bukka experience without the jollof
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo wouldn’t allow jollof wars under his watch, so when we offered Naija jollof, everyone on the President’s entourage opted for other sumptuous food options on the buffet. The President sure didn’t order anyone not to eat the Nigerian jollof, but it would have been easy to tell whose jollof is better if they took our offer.
Regardless, they were treated to the top-notch Bukka experience and the MD/CEO Transcorp Hotels Plc. Mrs. Olusola walked the president through the scintillating food options on our popular lunch buffet.
President Akufo-Addo, who is the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was in Abuja for the 2021 First Extra Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament and like other country heads who were in Nigeria’s capital city during the week, President Akufo-Addo stayed at Transcorp Hilton.
Presidential Summit
President Muhammadu Buhari was also at Transcorp Hilton Abuja where he hosted an extraordinary summit of Heads of State and Government of Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), to discuss the growing security threats in the Sahel and the Lake Chad region, political relations and economic ties.
Other sub-regional leaders who participated in the summit include the Presidents of the Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum and the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadera.
Others are Mahamat Idriss Deby, President of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad and Representatives of Mohamed Al-Menfi, Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, and a Sudanese delegation led by Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Sovereignty Council. Cameroon’s President Paul Biya was represented at the meeting by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Minister of State and Secretary General at the President’s office.
