Wings on Wings: How far would you fly for wings

And so, what was once considered weak wings in Buffalo became the honey of the pot and the desire of many, so much so that some communities around the world are known for their special wings recipe. Sometimes, stories are best told from the end back to the beginning.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and billions of people around the world have shuffled through many immigration desks and departure isles just to be where their heart is. Asides from the togetherness and cheer the season brings, a very special part of Christmas is the food. The recipes ignite a different feeling and the intention to explore screams ‘all you can eat!’. It is impossible to deny that some meals only grace dinner tables of the day during Christmas. Whereas meals like wings are stunners, all year round.

Without a doubt that food festivals make it all worth eating and drinking, how far are you willing to fly for wings?

Down in South Africa, southern chicken has a whole new meaning. Some argue that no one does it or could it be the finger-licking goodness they bring to the fore? Add a nice drink and a mix of amapiano and it just might fly.

Wings may or may not take you across the Atlantic to your homecoming, where you’d laugh and dance with family as you enjoy Shito Wings. Abena didn’t lie about the wonders of the coast.

International Beer Day
Capital Bar, Transcorp Hilton Abuja serves one of the best wings in the city.

Up north where the buildings mirror the colours and shades of the Sahel, wings take a different twist. Perfectly paired with Sesame-Bok Choy Slaw, it wouldn’t be wild to bet that you can take the origin of the chicken in every bite. The Moroccan spice blend is unmatched and the test is never the same anywhere else.

The Giant of Africa is home to many people, cultures, influences, and equally giant tastes. It’s the nation believed to be the entertainment capital of the African continent. Many wings flap in here. From Peking to spicy, Buffalo to crispy, honey soy to honey lemon, there’s no limit to where these wings will take you. You may fly this season across the Niger, Nile, or Zambezi Rivers, over the desert, rain forests, and reserves alike, if you’re determined enough to experience great wings, you might go back to the beginning of the text where the story started.
