Last week was packed! We had globally respected Nigerians at Transcorp Hilton, from former country heads, to kings, a Grammy Award winner, and a world champion. For fans at the hotel, there were lots of whoa moments, but for us, it was just another day at the office. We are honoured to always host the crème de la crème.
Starboy!
When you’re big, you’re big. 10 years after releasing his debut album Superstar, Wizkid rode into Transcorp Hilton in a convoy fit for a star. As you’d expect fans were waiting and there were intermittent flashes from cameras trying to capture every moment. Our General Manager at Transcorp Hilton Kevin Brett welcomed Wizkid and led him to a photo wall by the Capital Bar, his songs playing from the background as he took photos with our team. Some of our guests who are fans also tried their best to get a glimpse of the Starboy. The love is real, people!

On his crew for the day was DJ Spinall, who covered half his face with a bandana, and without his signature cap, it would have been difficult to recognise him, but stars always shine through.
A pleasant nightmare
When Kamaru Usman, the reigning UFC Welterweight Champion lodged at Transcorp Hilton, the best hotel he could have stayed, we thought it only made sense to honour a good ambassador of our country. Last Thursday, we hosted him at the Capital Bar, the “happening” sports bar at Transcorp Hilton, where he autographed his photo and became the first Nigerian athlete on the wall of the Capital Bar. Usman is popularly known as the Nigerian Nightmare, but he is one of the most pleasant humans you’d ever meet. What a pleasant nightmare!

“I like the way I’m feeling now”
When your song is a chart-topper, what do you do? You chill out at Transcorp Hilton. But Ladipoe doesn’t seem to be chilling out. Word is that the other celebrities who were seen with him, and around the same time he was at Transcorp Hilton — Toke Makinwa, Sharon Ooja, Taymesan, Nse Ikpe Etim, Real Warri pikin, among others — were in town for a film shoot. Who knows; we might be seeing Ladipoe in a movie soon. But whether he’s in town for a shoot or to cool off, one thing we are sure of is that Ladipoe likes the way he’s feeling now.
Mikel, not Michael
From the transfer saga involving Manchester United and Chelsea to those glorious days in the middle of the pack for Chelsea and the Super Eagles of Nigeria, John Obi Mikel has come a long way. These days, he dictates play from the middle at Stoke City, and now that the football season is over, he’s at Transcorp Hilton enjoying the best hospitality. What more can we do to make his stay even more memorable than it already is?![]()
Your Highness, Your Excellency
Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, prominent traditional rulers such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Sultan of Sokoto, his eminence Sa’ad Abubakar, were all at Transcorp Hilton last week to discuss ways to move Nigeria forward.
Someone said Transcorp Hilton is the best place for royalty, celebrity and presidential spotting; it’s the truth.
