Some may plan to travel or some may just want a small family gathering but the best of it all is when you attend the Calabar carnival, located in the southern part of Nigeria a place called the people’s paradise because of its distinct nature feel and also because of the exquisite indigenous meals prepared there, trust me Cross River state is home away from home.
If you are in Cross River, Calabar to be precise during the festive period, then you will know that the Calabar carnival is not to be missed a bit. The Calabar carnival as it’s called is an array of splendid, unique and colourful display of beautiful costumes, dancers, stuntmen and women and of course a band. 5 bands attend the carnival every year and they are Masta Blasta band, Bayside band, Passion 4 band, Seagull band and Freedom band. These bands have to come up with strategies in order to come out outstanding like their costumes, dance theme and stunts personnel and even the dignitaries that are on the band all these activities take place for who at the end of the day to emerge as a winner.
The carnival attracts both foreign and local individuals across the world to be entertained and also to partake in the carnival, no wonder its tagged “Africa’s Biggest Street Party” because there is never a dull moment at the carnival as you are in tune with the flow of the carnival and at the same time enjoying company of friends and family.
Calabar carnival is not just a street party but a lecture, training and formative structure to build new characters and create new opportunities for young leaders.
