In a powerful display of commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, Transcorp Hotels commemorated International Women’s Day with a dual celebration, honouring both its female employees and the beneficiaries of its Business Empowerment Program for Women (BEPW).
The day was marked by a special event where the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hotels, Uzo Oshogwe, engaged directly with the current beneficiaries of the BEPW. BEPW is a cornerstone of Transcorp Hotels’ corporate social responsibility initiatives, designed to equip women with the skills and resources necessary to achieve economic independence.
Through BEPW, eight women are trained in fashion designing and business skills every year, helping to kickstart their career. Two cohorts of the programme holds every year, with each cohort held over six months.
This interaction provided a valuable platform for dialogue, encouragement, and the sharing of insights.
Highlighting the company’s dedication to supporting women, Uzo Oshogwe personally presented cash gifts to the BEPW beneficiaries. These funds were specifically allocated to enable the women to purchase essential equipment required for their training, directly contributing to their skill development and entrepreneurial aspirations.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to creating pathways for women to thrive. Through the BEPW program, Transcorp Hotels is investing in the future of these talented women, providing them with the resources and support they need to build successful businesses and contribute to their communities.
